COACHING CERTIFICATION GUIDELINES FOR UNCERTIFIED INDIVIDUALS
To be a Coach at South Lewis, and in any Public School in New York State, people that are not currently certified with the New York State Education Department would need to fulfill requirements to get certified as a Coach. The attached document gives an outline of the guidelines that need to be followed to be a certified Coach. INITIAL CERTIFICATION FOR A NON-TEACHER COACH REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING
First Aid for Coaches (renewable every two-three years)
CPR/AED for Coaches (renewable every one-two years)

Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) (one time certification/can be done along with Violence Abuse if needing both)
Child Abuse (Mandated Reporter) (one time certification)

Fingerprint clearance through New York State Education Department (one time requirement)
Principles, Philosophy and Organization of Athletics in Education (one time certification)
Health Sciences Applied to Coaching (one time certification)
Theory & Techniques of Coaching (one time certification)
