The Port Leyden Elementary Maple Producers Enrichment Program tapped some trees today to get ready for the next “Big Run”. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Markham!
COVID-19: Guidance Update
New guidance has been released where the NYS Dept. of Health (NYSDOH) requires an initial 24-hour closure when a student or staff member attended school prior to being confirmed as a COVID-19 case. During this initial 24-hour period the school shall take steps to clean and disinfect the school while the NYSDOH conducts an investigation to determine the contacts the individual may have had within the school community. The school must then take direction from the NYSDOH about continued closure, opening or other potential actions.
At this time there are no confirmed or suspected cases within our school community.
The Jr. Falcon Baseball/Softball clinic concluded last night. We had 38 young athletes and 12 coaches. We hope everyone enjoyed the experience and enhanced their knowledge and skills at the same time.
After an evening at JCC for the Frontier League Girls' Basketball Exceptional Senior Event, these sisters, Zoey and Chloe Hunziker, pause for a minute to relish the moment. Coach Martin says that these girls and their dedication, determination, & hard work will be dearly missed.
Congratulations to last week’s Random Acts of Kindness students at Port Leyden Elementary!
We had our Out of My Mind closing assembly today. Thank you to Ryan and Walter Berwick for joining us!

More pics of our junior students embracing life as it goes downhill at Snow Ridge yesterday! Many skied and simply enjoyed the ride, some caught big air--is that a frontside & a backside?, and one was just eternally grateful to have made it down the hill alive!
Last night, 22 Exceptional Senior volleyball players from the Frontier League gathered at Beaver River to play a few friendly end-of-the-season (end-of-high-school-career) games. Shown here are Brooklyn Sullivan & Izabelle Liendecker mixin & minglin, servin & blockin, and lovin' their dear Coach Gino.
This group of 31 South Lewis juniors enjoyed a day at the slopes today. Many thanks and gratitude beyond measure to our high school PE teachers, Mrs. Gino and Mr. Smykla and to the Snow Ridge folks for providing this opportunity for our students.
Over the weekend the SL FFA group joined other District 6 members at a leadership forum in Lowville. Mr. Smykla & Mrs. Gino rally high school PE troops to fight their way through a badminton unit. And really, it can't be all that BAD if 41 (that's FORTY-ONE) Falcons show up during activity period to smash around a synthetic birdie. Another great moment in "South Lewis Strong" history.
Glenfield’s youngest getting a little help from their 4th grade friends at Maple Ridge!
