Gratitude comes in all shapes, sizes, and forms. At South Lewis, we are happy to share some of the memories and moments that bring joy and make us thankful to be a part of this Falcon community.

On Friday night, the South Lewis FFA hosted a Thanksgiving Feast for family and friends. It was a smorgasbord beyond compare complete with turkey, sides, sides, and more sides, and a selection of desserts so sweet that even Betty Crocker would blush.
This past Saturday, 8th grader Brynn Bernard finished 5th in the New York State Federation XC Championship race and made South Lewis history as she became the highest placing Falcon female at the Federation level. Way to run like the wind, Brynn!
Today in Theater Arts, Taha Umer, the Pakistani Princess, educates classmates about her culture. Taha is just one of the international students that is calling South Lewis "home" this year. What a lovely jewel she is!
Give thanks and be grateful for BOOKS! Come to the Middle School PTG Book Fair November 21st, 22nd, and 25th from 7:30am-3pm in the Middle School lobby. The fair will also be open during conferences on Monday the 25th from 5-8pm.
And finally, in the upper regions of the state, four SL XC runners battled it on a cold and clear Saturday morning at the NYSPHSAA State Championship. Collin Stafford placed 44th in his race. Brynn Bernard, Lexi Bernard, & Hannah Ielfield placed 2nd, 4th, & 6th in their race. It was a great day to run!
In those same SL gymnasiums on Saturday, the Falcons hosted a modified wrestling tournament in which 10 schools competed for king of the mat. Coach Gibson is happy to report that after hours of grappling, his athletes enjoyed throwing down their skills against opponents from across the league.
This past weekend there was a lot to celebrate in our Falcon athletic community. The weekend began Friday night as more than 17 volleyball teams held court in the SL gymnasiums and set out to crown the greatest team in all of the SL volleyball kingdom. Here's a hint: "COACHES".
Speaking of imaginative costumes.... "Elsa" and "Olaf" stopped by today to help sell Frozen Hot Chocolates and raise funds for a "Frozen" Field Trip later this week. Olaf said it best, "Some people are worth melting for." Thank you, Mr. Carvel, for being one of those "people"!

Glenfield 1st graders got to learn about making chocolate and strawberry milk from Cummings Dairy!! They even got to sample the Cummings Cream Line Chocolate Milk! What a delicious day!
Mrs.Monks' Middle School book club had the opportunity to video chat with author Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch today. Check out her new book Don't Tell the Nazis at the book fair later this week!

Glenfield Character of the Week!
Congratulations to Mrs. Vargo! She was awarded the Ruth Anne Schultz Memorial Scholarship by the NYS Association of Family and Consumer Science Educators. Former South Lewis Family and Consumer Science teacher, Kim Pierce, presented her with the scholarship.
These Senior students are taking matters into their own hands and implementing new Science standards as they have PHUN in PHYSICS.
Middle School October Students of the Month!
On Tuesday night the South Lewis Lions Club honored twenty-six Class of 2020 Scholars at a dinner catered by River Valley Inn. Esteemed members of the Lions Club offered congratulations, and Mr. Timothy Munn, guest speaker, shared wise words for the soon-to-be-graduates. What a privilege!
Even in these X-TREME conditions, the XC TEAM continues to prepare for Saturday's State Meet. Yesterday, a path was cleared for State Qualifiers (Brynn, Colin, Hannah, and Lexi) to simulate the perfect finish on a snowy Plattsburgh course. These runners are South Lewis Strong!
