SOUTH LEWIS CENTRAL SCHOOLS 2022-2023 INSTRUCTIONAL CALENDAR

Last Friday the members of our Boys Varsity Club were given the opportunity to visit the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame followed up by lunch together and a Utica Comets hockey game afterwards. We'd like to thank the always wonderful Mr. Smykla for joining this wonderful group of guys on a fun-filled trip!

Those gray skies couldn't put a damper on this kind of fun...and they have the smiles to prove it! We'd like to send out a BIG "thank you" to Snow Ridge for allowing our Junior class members to take a field trip and spend the day outside enjoying the fresh air. And as always, another "thank you" to Mrs. Gino and Mr. Smykla for giving our kids this opportunity.

On Friday, March 11, The Class of 2022 South Lewis Lions Club Scholars were treated to a Falcon Café luncheon . While dining together, South Lewis adminstrators and members of the Lions Club shared a tasty meal, wise words, and congratulatory messages with the young scholars. We are so proud of these students and their academic accomplishments. Great work by all!

Thank you to all the exceptional seniors (and coaches....and referees....) who stepped out on the court last night and finished off the 21-22 season with a couple games of volleyball. The South Lewis Athletic Department would once again like to recognize our own very exceptional seniors, Shaylagh Randall and Jada Pominville. Congratulations to a successful final season ladies!

These South Lewis PE students know the value of taking small steps to achieve big goals. Today, high school students take time to step it up on snowshoes, and the goal is to enjoy all that nature has to offer while learning a new skill. Keep on trekking, young friends.

We are pleased to announce the Academic Leaders for the Class of 2022! Lexi Bernard has earned the distinction of Valedictorian with a 98.95 GPA. Alexyn E. Hunkins is the senior class Salutatorian with a 97.45 GPA. And, the Technical Honor Student with a GPA of 91.66 is Jayden A. Ford . We are so impressed by these young people and applaud their diligence and fortitude throughout their high school years. Great work, students. You have a lot to smile about!

In the South Lewis Community, we know the true meaning of "March comes in like a lion...." But, in high school PE, March comes in like a pride of lions wearing snowshoes, sporting big smiles, and gliding over crisp snow-covered rolling hills on a perfectly sunny north country winter morning. Thanks, Mrs. Gino and Mr. Smykla, for showing our students that nature can be both powerful and beautiful. Thanks for getting after it! Go Falcons!

Please see the letter dated 2.27.22 from Superintendent Douglas Premo regarding the ending of the school mask mandate effective Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
