South Lewis FFA students are on the move and headed west for the 95th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this week. If you don't know a lot about this organization, know this: it's all about growing the next generation of leaders. We, here at South Lewis, are often in awe of this group of young people. We truly believe that they are working "For the Future For All."
Following are a few shots of the kids giving "thumbs up" to the sights of Washington, D.C. (Hey, I wonder how many of the leaders in DC were once FFA members?)
The South Lewis Future Farmers of America is hosting a donation drive

Congratulations to the September High School Students of the Month. Paige Hawk and Alexis Kraeger integrate good character into every aspect of their lives. Paige is a freshman who is active and involved as a member of Future Educators and of SL GAA. Alexis is senior who is completing the Early Childhood BOCES program and makes time to mentor younger students in the Falcon Friends Club. We thank these young ladies for sharing their gifts and energy with little people and for growing kindness that will bloom into the future.
Be-FORE the highly anticipated days of second summer have passed and while we get a MULLIGAN on sunshiney warm weather, here are a few pictures of our South Lewis high school students in PE class. Thanks to Mr. Baldwin, Mrs. Gino, and Mr. Smykla for getting these kids ON PAR for success. "In golf as in life, it is the follow through that makes the difference."
Mr. Carvel’s class has a great day visiting the farm of South Lewis alumni Carl Sherman. From wagon rides to tire swings it was a beautiful day at Sherman’s Farm! Thank you to the Sherman family for the warm welcome and letting us visit!

Thank you to all of our local firehouses and ambulance corps who came by and offered their time and instruction to the Elementary School's Fire Prevention Week event today! The students became familiar with the sights and sounds of not just the trucks, but the equipment and gear of the brave men and women who will show up in case of trouble. We learned about safe zones, staying low away from smoke, how different situations call for different responders, and that no matter who you need, you call 911. Thank you to all our volunteers and a special thanks to Charity Hoffert for orchestrating this wonderful event!
No we didn't get new school colors...its October -- which means its Breast Cancer Awareness month! Our Varsity Boys Soccer team decided to show their support with a pink-out game!
Turned out to be a great day for the 7th Grade trip to Beaver Camp! Looks like fun!

As part of our District’s Taste It Tuesday and N.Y. Thursday led by the South Lewis Farm to School Team, the Elementary School got a chance to sample hot dogs brought to us by Shauna Davoy of Red Barn Meats. We really appreciate her spending some time with us and helping the South Lewis hotdog gang pass out the tasty treats. Red Barn Meat hot dogs were featured on our N.Y Thursday menu. Hot diggity dog that was fun and delicious!

Water you up to? Take a walk down by Ms. Huntress’ chemistry hallway by the high school gym and see how the students are trying to solve the world’s problems. The class took a stab at how to purify water and also successfully discovered what not to do! In a thirsty world, they might have solved a very real problem!
It isn't too early to starting thinking about the Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony! Please see attached for important information regarding the date of that special event.
On the first day of school -- woo hoo, can you believe we finally made it? -- let's take one last look at some FFA State Fair fun this summer.
